When she was a few months old, her parents spilt up. In January 2010, her mother (Helen Reyes) met a man called Jonathan Richardson.

Helen cut off all contact with her parents. Helen was told by her sister that she had seen Jonathan push Teghan against a wall with his hands on her neck and shook her, he said this was so she stopped crying.
Helen and Teghan move into Jonathan's home, a 15ft shed in his parents backyard. There is no bathroom, no water and one airmatress for sleeping on.

Teghan gets a black eye and Helen tells people who ask about it that she fell off the air mattress. Helen watches her daughter getting whipped with a extension cord while Jonathan laughs. Teghan gets several large welts from this incident. Jonathan slaps Teghan in the face with a book causing Teghan to fall down, Helen thinks this is funny.

5th July, Jonathan drops Helen off at airport so she can go on holiday. He then inserts a hasp on the shed door. On Teghan's 4th birthday, she isn't given any cards, presents, no cake and no one even sung her happy birthday. Instead, she was thrown across the shed and a plastic bag was tied over her head while Jonathan filmed her bump into things.

16th July, Teghan is brought to hospital. Jonathan says that Teghan fell off the air mattress. Teghan has a massive head injury. She had 66 adult bite marks all over body. One of her nipples are missing as well as six of her ten fingernails. Chunks of her skin are also missing. She has lost 70% of her blood.

She was whip marks all over her tiny body. She has copper wire fragments embedded underneath her skin from Jonathan whipping her. She has severe trauma to her vaginal and anal area and a cigarette was found up her bum hole. She has a broken wrist, which was there around 17 days before she was brought to hospital.

Teghan fought but died 3 days later. Jonathan was arrested to life and Helen was charged to 52 years.
