Koralynn's parents, David and Becky, had been together for quite some time before deciding to separate when Koralynn was almost 2 years old. After David and Becky broke up, they decided to share custody of Koralynn.

This was going well until Becky refused to let David see Koralynn one day. David texted Becky and asked about visiting with his daughter, but Becky wouldn't answer at first, and then told David that Koralynn was ill. In April 2012, David went to get Koralynn, but Becky wouldn't allow him to take her. Koralynn cried when she was not allowed to go with David and he could tell that she was not happy.

Eventually, Koralynn was able to go with her father and spend the night. Koralynn was excited to see her father, and the two stayed with David's aunt. They watched cartoons, and Koralynn enjoyed Spaghettio's at dinner.

David and Koralynn both loved spending quality time with each other, but unfortunately, this was the last bit of time David would be able to spend with Koralynn... After Koralynn went back into Becky's care, police were called to her house.

Becky's boyfriend, James Reeder, reported that he had found Koralynn face down in a bathtub. He claimed that he had briefly left Koralynn alone in the bathtub while he went to get a towel. Before help was called, James had taken Koralynn, wrapped in a towel, across the street to ask for help. Becky and Koralynn's older sister were not at the house at this time.

Unfortunately, despite the efforts of paramedics, Koralynn was pronounced deceased the same day police were called. James was arrested and and both he and Becky were interviewed at their home. Becky was not a suspect in Koralynn's death, but even so, her older sister was removed from Becky's care and placed into protective custody. She was 4 years old at the time.

James Reeder was sentenced to 37 years in prison.
