April Marie Tinsley 

March 18 1980 - April 1 1988

Age: 8 years old 

On April 1 1988, April was playing at a friend's houjse when she realized she had left her umbrella at another friend's house, and left to retrieve it.

She never made it there, and instead ended up being dragged into a large blue truck, as seen by a witness.

April was brutally raped and suffocated, and her lifeless body was left in a ditch on the side of a road, where it was found by a jogger on April 4th. A sex toy was also found near the body.

Although DNA from the killer could be taken from April's corpse, it didn't match any known offenders.

In 1990, the killer scrawled a message on a barn first in pencil, then traced in crayon, and finally redone with a marker, that reads "I Kill 8 yea old APRiL marie tisley I WiLL Kill again" In the background, you can see the pencil writing that repeats again and again, "ha ha ha"

Years later, in 2004, the killer handwrote several letters and placed them in the bike baskets of young girls. Some of these included attachments the killer called "gifts," with one girl receiving a used condom with DNA that matched that of the killer, and another getting a Polaroid photo of the killers naked lower half.

One letter that was released to the public reads "Hi Hooney IBeen Watching you Iam The same person that kinappedan Rape an Kill Aproil tinseLy you are my next vitem if you dont Reportthis tO Police on I donTsee This in the paper Tommrow or on the Local  news or i Well BLow ur YOY house but yOu willbe mine"

After over 30 years without justice, John Miller  was arrested with her murder on July 15 2018. The 59 year old admitted that he saw April walking alone, kidnapped her, raped her and then choked her to death. He will most likely be sentenced to life in prison.
