Dylan Hreha

Dylan Michael Hrehe 

December 2 2010 - March 1 2013

Age: 2 years old  

On February 23 2013, Dylan and his 4 year old brother was playing on the family's trampoline which was located in the backyard, while their parents went back and forth between the house and yard.

A couple minutes after the parents last went out, Dylan's brother came inside and said that Dylan was "asleep" on the floor outside. Dylan was found blue and unconscious. His heart was beating but it was very faint  and the paramedics were breathing for him on the way to hospital.

Once at hospital, the MRI scan showed brain damage through the EEG scan showed some brain activity. He was kept in hospital.

Further investigation showed that the earbuds Dylan was wearing round his neck, had been caught in the springs. Causing him to be tragically strangled to death. 

Sadly, 6 days after the accident Dylan passed away in his mother's arms.

                        

Noah Pozner

Noah Samuel Pozner 

November 20 2006 - December 14 2012

Age: 6 years old 

On December 14 2012, Lenny Pozner dropped his three children, 8 year old Sophia, and twins, Arielle and Noah, at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. Noah had recently turned 6, and on the drive over they listened to his favorite song, “Gangnam Style,” for what turned out to be the last time.

Meanwhile, Adam Lanza shot his sleeping mother, Nancy in the head before driving to the school. Half an hour later, while Sophia and Arielle was in other classrooms nearby, Adam Lanza shot a window and entered the elementary school. He shot the principal, Dawn Hochsprung and five other members of staff. He then walked into Noah’s first-grade class with an AR-15 rifle. He began shooting.

Noah was the youngest of the 20 children and seven adults killed in one of the deadliest shootings in American history. When the medical examiner found Noah lying face up in a Batman sweatshirt, his jaw had been blown off. Lenny and his wife, Veronique, raced to the school as soon as they heard the news, but had to wait for hours alongside other parents to learn their son’s fate. Adam Lanza shot himself in the head after he murdered his 27 victims.

Emma Shelton

July 8 2003 - May 8 2005

Age: 22 months old 

On May 8 2005, Emma's family were celebrating Mother's Day inside their Florida home. Emma had been out on the patio with the family, splashing in the hot tub with her older cousins, playing, and having fun. There was a large ice bucket on the patio for the drinks and she was having a blast eating ice and throwing it into the hot tub. At one point everyone got up and went into the house. She was in the front room playing with toys with her older cousins while her mom was in the dining room opening Mothers day gifts.

It was only a few minutes later that her mother noticed she wasn't in the front room anymore. She asked where Emma was and no one knew. She checked the patio first, and there she was - floating facedown in the hot tub. Emma's mother screamed and jumped in to grab her then handed her out to Emma's dad. Someone called 911 while Emma's parents and uncle performed CPR.

A police officer showed up after a few long agonizing minutes and took over CPR. The ambulance was just minutes behind. When the ambulance arrived, all of them started to cut off her clothes. After arriving at the hospital, they had got a heartbeat back. But it was to no avail. She had 3 chest tubes to try to help her lungs, a ventilator was breathing for her.

Emma was having small siezures periodically. The nuerologist performed his tests and you could see his face get more grave with each test. She had a heart beat but Emma wasn't there anymore. Her brain had been deprived of oxygen for too long. Even if they could get her heart to cooperate and stay beating she would never wake up. Her heartbroken family had to make the decision when her heart arrested again to let her go.

Amanda Dowler

Amanda Jane Dowler

June 25 1988 - March 21 2002

Age: 13 years old 

On 21 March 2002, Amanda was reported missing by her parents after failing to return home from school and not being seen since walking along Station Avenue in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, that afternoon. Following an extensive search for her, her remains were discovered in Yateley Heath Woods in Yateley, Hampshire, on 18 September.

On 23 June 2011, Levi Bellfield, who was already serving three life sentences for the murders of Marsha McDonnell and Amélie Delagrange and the attempted murder of Kate Sheedy, was found guilty of abducting and murdering  Amanda and was sentenced to an additional whole-life tariff. On 27 January 2016, Surrey Police announced that Bellfield had admitted to abducting, abusing and killing Dowler.

At 3:07pm on 21 March 2002, Amanda left Heathside School in Weybridge and walked to Weybridge railway station with a friend. The girls got off at Walton-on-Thames railway station, one stop before Dowler's usual stop of Hersham, and went to eat at the station cafe. After Amanda telephoned her father at 3:47 pm to say she would be home in half an hour, the girls left the cafe at 4:05, with Dowler walking home alone.

She was last seen three minutes later,walking along Station Avenue, by a friend of her sister, who was waiting at a bus stop.A closed-circuit television camera located further along the road showed no images of Dowler A red Daewoo Nexia, which belonged to Levi Bellfield's girlfriend Emma Mills, was photographed driving past by the same camera at 4:32 pm.In an April 2009 interview, Bellfield said that he was driving the car.

When Dowler failed to return home, she was reported missing to the police at 7:00 pm.A nationwide search for her followed, with 100 police officers and helicopters searching fields,streets and rivers around Hersham.

A week after Amanda Dowler's disappearance, the police stated that she was probably not taken by force. They reasoned that while she was unlikely to have gone off with someone she did not know of her own free will, no-one had come forward who had witnessed a struggle, despite a number of apparent sightings of her prior to her disappearance.

On 23 April 2002, the discovery of a body in the River Thames prompted media speculation that the remains might be those of Dowler, but the body was identified the following day as that of 73-year-old Maisie Thomas, who went missing in March 2001, and whose death was not believed to be suspicious. In June 2002, police told her parents that she was probably dead.

On 18 September 2002, nude human remains were discovered by mushroom pickers in Yateley Heath Woods near Yateley, Hampshire.They were later confirmed through dental records as Amanda's, due to the severity of the decomposition, the cause of death could not be ascertained.

Neither Amanda's clothes, nor any of the possessions—the purse, rucksack or mobile phone—she had with her at the time of her disappearance have ever been recovered. On 23 March 2003, DNA of an unidentified male was discovered on an item of Dowler's clothing in her bedroom, suggesting that her killer may have met her before. This link was ruled out within three months, at the same time that a DNA link to a church robbery in Sunderland was also ruled out.

Two months later, Bedfont Lake in west London was searched by police in hope of finding the car, but they recovered neither the car nor anything else of interest to their inquiry. The car has yet to be found

On 25 February 2008, Surrey Police confirmed that Levi Bellfield was their prime suspect in the murder inquiry and that they were "very interested" in questioning him.On 30 March 2010, Bellfield was charged with Dowler's abduction and murder.As a result, the inquest into the death was adjourned

On 6 October 2010, Bellfield appeared in court via video link, as he was already serving three life sentences for murder and attempted murder. He was formally charged with one count of attempted abduction, one count of abduction, one count of disposal of evidence,and one count of murder.

On 29 June 2017, Amanda's sister Gemma released a book dedicated to Amanda, titled My Sister Milly. 

Lauren Key

August 29 1996 - November 8 2000

Age: 4 years old 

On the morning of November 8 2000, Lauren was distraught at the thought of spending time with her father that afternoon after school, as part of a court approved visit. So distraught, teachers had to almost pry Lauren out of her mother’s arms when she was dropped off that morning.

By the time the time they arrived she was crying. It took her mother a while to get her out of the car seat. Lauren was clinging to her mother and her legs are wrapped around her mother, Sarah. Lauren was screaning "Don’t let me go. Don’t let me go!” After school, Cameron picked Lauren up and drove to the remote and dangerous cliff in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. He threw her off a 120ft cliff because, it was argued, he didn’t want to pay her mother $1,000 a month in child support.

Cameron had always denied killing Lauren but was found guilty in his court hearing. 

Cameron Brown was sentenced to life without parole.

Liam Hogan

Age: 6 years old 

Liam was born to John and Natasha Hogan. In 2006, they were going through problems with their marriage. One day John had discovered some flirtatious emails exchanged between Natasha and an old school friend of hers. Natasha had also been looking into divorce on the internet. John was feeling emotional stress at the prospect of distancing and separating from loved ones. He has a great need to express his feelings and especially feelings of love, but an even greater need for others to express their feelings towards him. To help ease their marriage they booked a holiday in Crete. They arrived at the hotel on 11th August. Although they had booked a ground-floor, pool-side apartment, they were shown to room 446, on the top floor, over the hotel entrance and facing a busy main road. Spotting the balcony, Natasha was immediately worried about their children's safety.

John had spent the fourth day of the holiday on his own, turning inwards, as his family had always done, returning only at 4pm, to challenge Natasha as to whether she had made a decision about leaving him. The argument had started later that evening. John had shouted to Natasha, “If you think you're living in that house with the kids ... you're not, I'll burn it to the ground." The argument kept going and John wanted to leave and go home. The next plane had only three seats to spare and Natasha said that she was going to use those three seats but leave John there. They kept arguing at the hotel bar. When they got back to their room, John had started packing the suit cases.

At this point, Liam was getting very upset and cried to Natasha “You’re splitting up!” Natasha had a little talk with Liam while John packed the suitcases. Natasha stopped to have a look at the state of the suitcases and she thought to herself “These are never going to close. The clothes and everything were just piled in.” She tried to sort the cases out her self and John retaliated to her actions. He started shouting “My packing is f***ing c**p!” He was throwing all the contents of the suitcases all over the room. Liam was screaming at this point because John had frightened him with his actions.

While Natasha was clearing up the mess and started packing the suitcases, there was a deadly silence and that was when she had discovered that John had gone over the balcony with Liam and his 2 year old sister Mia. Natasha had called an ambulance and went down to help her injured children. Within minutes, Liam and Mia had been taken to the nearby hospital. The doctor’s tried all they could to resuscitate Liam but he died shortly after arrival. Liam had suffered multiple head injuries from the fall. John and Mia suffered broken limbs ando they both survived. 

John Hogan was later acquitted of Liam's murder, and instead spent several years in a psychiatric hospital.

Addison Weast

November 13 2008 - April 2 2010

Age: 16 months old 

On March 31 2010, her mother left Addison in her boyfriend, Cody Geddings's care for only less then a hour and when she came back, Addison was unresponsive and was purple.

She was rushed to hospital.

Cody told ER and Addison's mother that Addison had fallen out of her play pen while he was tiding the kitchen. He also said that after her fall, she had a seziure. The hospital staff called police after soon realising that her injuries wasn't from a fall, but from a severe beating.

Cody then told police that Addison was playing outside when a gas canister fell on Addison after it was on a unstrudy stool. This is untrue as Addison's mother said that back at home, the gas canister was stored away in the garage and not where Cody had said. Addison had severe bruises amongst her tiny body and had clear signs of Shaken Baby Syndrome.

Addison died 2 days after her beating and Cody was sentenced to only 14 years in prison, with a chance of parole.

Xavier Delgado

Age: 8 months old 

Patti Mock was baby-sitting Xavier in her Rock Falls home on September 24 2009. She shook him violently and hit his head on an object, which caused bleeding on his brain that led to his death.

Around 8am,  Melissa Delgado dropped off Xavier before heading to work. After picking him up, he seemed tired and Melissa and Xavier drove home. Around noon, she sat in a rocking chair with Xavier and gave him a bottle. When she went to burp him, he vomited everywhere, she said.

She placed him on the floor, cleaned up the vomit and changed his clothes, which were wet. His eyes became “fixed” and he appeared listless.

He was rushed to hospital where he died 5 days later on September 29. Patti Mock was never charged for murdering Xavier.

Jeremiah Swafford

March 17 2006 - February 14 2009

Age: 2 years old 

On December 19 2008, Jeremiah's biological father reported that his son had a black eye, a hand print on his face and bruises all over his body.  On December 30 2008, Jeremiah was brought into Cleveland Regional Medical Center. He had bruises on his body, including a raw, black and blue penis. This poor little tot also had taser marks on his body.

On February 12 2009, Jeremiah's mother put him to bed and he was fine. The next morning, he had a massive bruise on his forehead, he was bearly breathing and he was unconscious. He was airlifted to hospital. Jeremiah passed away shortly after arrival. Both Kathy Swafford, mother, and Dwight Justice, stepfather, denied killing Jeremiah.

People that witnessed the abuse reported that Jeremiah's mother, Kathy Lynn Swafford, laughed while her boyfriend, Dwight Stacy Justice, tased her child. It has also been reported that Kathy frequently slapped, grabbed by the throat and threw her son to the ground.

She admitted I'm questioning that she once caused a sever head injury to Jeremiah by picking him up by his feet and swinging him. Jeremiah hit his head on a  wooden part of the sofa.

On February 7 2012, Dwight Justice died in prison of a brain aneurysm a week after his trail.

Kathy Swafford was sentenced 18-23 years in prison. 

Audrina Hepburn

Age: 16 months old 

In October 2009, Ashley Nicole Hepburn, who was 21 years old at the time, was arrested and charged with murder by child abuse. When Police arrived at the hospital, they spoke to Ashley's boyfriend Brandon who claimed that he had checked on Audrina a few hours before and she was fine, but when he had gone to check on Audrina at about 1:30 am.

He found her laying in the corner of her crib, lying face down and she was unresponsive. According to Brandon, he picked Audrina up and she still did not respond so he called 911 and Audrina was taken to the hospital. After speaking with Ashley, Police were told that Audrina had been put to bed at about 10:30 pm, the night before and though she seemed a little fussy, she didn't seem to be in any trouble.

Reports say that Audrina died from being shaken which is commonly referred to as "Shaken Baby Syndrome". Audrina had brain injuries and bruises on her body. At the time of her death, there supposedly four adults in the home and apparently, nobody heard or saw anything

A jury found Ashley guilty and she was sentence to 45 years in prison, but would only have to serve 85% of that time before being considered for parole

Christopher Barrios Jr.

Age: 6 years old 

When he was six years old he was reported missing. He was last seen alive on March 8, 2007 around 6:15 pm. playing on a swing near his grandmother's home. He was abducted by George Edenfield and George's parents, David Edenfield, and Peggy Edenfield. A family friend named Donald Dale helped kidnap Christopher, and hide his body afterwards, though he appeared to have nothing else to do with the death of the child.

Christopher was reported missing, and his body was found just a few days later. After Christopher's body was found, what happened to the little boy began surfacing too. It is believed that Christopher was lured into the Edenfield's mobile home as he was walking from the swing set back to his Grandmother's home for dinner.

Inside the mobile home, they held Christopher captive. George and David Edenfield, both registered sex offenders, took turns sodomizing Christopher. Peggy watched as her son and husband raped Christopher. While she watched, she masturbated.

At one point during the attack, both George and David performed oral sex on Christopher. When they were done raping him, they choked him to death.  David and George used clothing to try and clean fluid from ejaculation off of themselves.

They also used soap and water to attempt to get rid of fingerprints they left on Christopher when they strangled him. When they thought they had hid anything that might tie them to Christopher's death, they wrapped his body in trash bags. They then called their friend, Donald Dale, who helped them dispose of Christopher's body.

David and George were convicted sex offenders. David had raped his daughter years before, and George had molested two little boys, aged seven and nine prior to their assault and murder of Christopher.

Neither of the killers was ever charged for raping and killing Christopher.

Max and Saga Jangestig

Age: 22 months old 

They were murdered by their mother's boyfriend ex girlfriend, Christine. 

On March 17 2008, Christine Shurrer turned up at Emma Jangestig's home. She was angry after her boyfriend dumped and began dating Emma, Max and Saga's mother. She had brought a hammer with her and when Emma answered the door, Christine immediately started to hit Emma with the hammer.

3 year old Max was trying to protect his mother but Christine then started hitting him with the hammer too. Once Max was dead and Emma was unconscious, she  found a crying Saga and started to hit her with the hammer aswell.

Once Saga was dead, Christine left the home. Both Max and Saga died due to head injuries. However, Emma survived the attack. Christine Shurrer was sentenced to only 12 years in prison.

Madilyne Wentz

Age: 10 months old

Madilyne began daycare on the 9th April 2005 and the first three days at the day care, Madilyne seemed to be doing fine. Nothing was abnormal about the day care, and Madilyne was happy. On the fourth day Madilyne was at the day care, something was very wrong when Rachel went to pick her up.

Madilyne was unconscious. She was taken to get medical help. It was found that both sides of her brain had suffered massive strokes. At the hospital, her injuries were so serious that had actually gone into a coma. She had severe head trauma, bilateral retinal hemorrhaging, and bruises on her body. Medical professionals knew that Madilyne had been abused and they knew she would not be able to survive.  In the morning of April 14 2005, Madilyne was pronounced brain dead.

Medical examiners concluded that her death was a homicide caused by Shaken Baby Syndrome. Her day care provider, Melinda Bautista, was arrested. In August of 2005, Melinda made a two-hour long confession. She said that Madilyne had been irritable that day and that nothing she was doing was soothing her.

She confessed to shaking Madilyne, saying that she shook her "until she was blue in the face, gasped, and went quiet." Melinda was charged with Madilyne's death, however, the jury in the trial decided, in less than one hour, that she was not guilty, despite the fact that she confessed to becoming frustrated with Madilyne and shaking her, which gave her the injuries that ultimately ended her life.

Brandy White

August 22 1981 - May 30 1986

Age: 4 years old 

Brandy took a wallet which belonged to her mother and hid it. On May 17 1986, her stepfather asked her where it was days later but she couldn't remember where she put it. Her mother and stepfather began to beat Brandy. She was kicked over 50 times. They beat her until she became unresponsive. Her mother didn't get any medical help until days later. Brandy passed away in hospital thirteen days later.

Brandy's stepfather was sentenced to life in prison and her mother was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Riley Fox

Age: 3 years old 

On June 6 2004, Riley's father, Kevin Fox,had picked up his children from their grandmother's house around 1am. Too tired to carry his children up to bed, he laid Riley on the couch and Riley's older brother Tyler, 6 years old, on the living room chair.

He then went to his room, watched TV and went to sleep around 2:30.The next morning he was awakened by Tyler, who told him that Riley was gone. After searching and checking with neighbors, he called police. Later that day Riley was found dead she was found face down in a creek, having been bound, gagged, and sexually assaulted before being drowned.

Kevin Fox, was initially charged based on a coerced confession. He spent eight months in jail before being cleared when boot prints next to Riley's body was found which didn't belong to him. Police had found a pair of mud-covered shoes at the scene with the name Eby written inside, but did nothing with this evidence. They ignored other important clues as well.

Scott said he firstly burgled a other house on the same street as them and planned to do the same with theirs. But when he saw Riley asleep he decided to kidnap her, he placed his hand over her mouth then put her in his car and drive off. He then took her to a park 2 miles from the family home where he raped her on the restroom floor and then killed by holding her head underwater until she was dead.

Scott Eby was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Asia Cottom

January 13 1990 - September 11 2001

Age: 11 years old  

Asia was one of three exceptional students who had been chosen to go on a four-day National Geographic field trip. Accompanied by their individual teachers, they were flying from Washington, DC to go to the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary in Santa Barbara, California.

Less than 35 minutes into the flight, the hijackers stormed the cockpit. They forced the passengers, crew, and pilots to the rear of the aircraft. Hani Hanjour, one of the hijackers who was trained as a pilot, assumed control of the flight. Unknown to the hijackers, passengers aboard made telephone calls to friends and family and relayed information on the hijacking.

American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon on the morning of September 11 2001. There was 58 passengers on Flight 77 and 125 were killed who were inside the Pentagon. There was in total 2,996 people killed (including the 19 hijackers) and more than 6,000 others injured. Sweet Asia was one of the thousands of victims in the attack. 

Judson Levasheff

December 24 2004 - November 7 2007

Age: 2 years old 

In May 2007, Judson began stumbling - he was 29 months old. Judson suddenly began deteriorating. In just five months, Judson was completely paralyzed, blind, and mute. Eventually, it was discovered that Judson had a genetic disease called Krabbe Leukodystrophy. Even through all the troubles Judson's condition caused him, he stayed brave and hopeful.

Once, his mother began crying when she was struggling to put shoes onto his stiff feet. Judson assured her that it was okay, and then he began singing "Great is Thy Faithfulness". As the disease progressed, Judson lost the ability to move his hands and arms. He also couldn't speak. He was in a lot of pain, and very confused, not to mention frustrated. After 6 months of suffering, Judson passed away due to the condition.
