Alissa Guernsey

Alissa Beth Guernsey
November 2, 2007 - March 28, 2009
Age: 16 months old

Alissa Beth Guernsey was born on November 2nd 2007 to Kelli Sprunger and Michael Guernsey in Indiana, USA. Alissa was a normal, happy, healthy baby when she left her mother’s home. In November 2008, Alissa's father was killed in a tragic car accident. A month later, Alissa's mother began finding it very difficult to care for her three children as she was devastated over the death of Michael. Therefore, 13-month-old Alissa and her two siblings were put in foster care. Kelli's cousin, Christy Shaffer, offered to care for Kelli's children while she gets back on her feet. On December 9th 2008, Alissa was put in the care of Christy and her husband. She already had four children of her own, so she was now looking after seven children. On January 27th 2009, Alissa is taken to the doctor after getting a injury above her eye. Christy claimed that Alissa fell off a chair. In February 2009, Alissa is taken to the doctor again, her hair was falling out and there was bruises all over her face and body. On March 19th, Alissa's elbow was fractured and Christy claimed that a dog had knocked Alissa over. 11 days later, she Christy drove to McDonald's and ordered food at the drive through window. Meanwhile, 16-month-old Alissa was strapped in her carseat dying. Late, she was taken to hospital and sadly died. Alissa was found to have many bruises on her head as well as over her body. Inside Alissa's mouth was an open wound about one inch in size, in the process of healing. It was later determined that Alissa's hair had been pulled out of her head and had not just been falling out on its own. Christy spent 77 days in prison and three years’ probation. Christy’s father happened to be friends with the judge. Her father was also friends with the prosecutor, Jeff Wible, and the doctor, John Egli, who essentially watched Alissa die a slow painful death, never once doing anything to save her.

Rest in paradise, Alissa.
