Age: 2 years old 

Codi was described to be a loving little girl who always gave hugs and kisses, she could steal someone's heart by batting her big blue eyes. Codi was born to her parents Angela and Brian, with an older brother.

When Brian and Angela split up, Brian met a woman named Melissa Minehart. 

On January 29th 2005 Brian, picked Codi up from Angela's house, visitations weren't scheduled and Brian picked up Codi whenever he wanted unless her mother already had plans. But Brian usually picked her up on Friday and took her back to Angela on Sunday. But this visit kept until Wednesday, February 2nd, because Codi's grandmother had a doctor appointment at St. Louis. But it snowed that day so her grandmother cancelled her appointment because of the way some people drive in the snowy conditions, they went to the grocery store and then home, when they got home, Angela received a call from her stepfather, he said that Brian had called him and told him Codi was in the hospital. 

Codi's grandmother called the school to let them know that Angela would pick up her son, whilst Angela called Brian who had just been at the school, he said that he received a phone call saying that Codi had taken a nap and woke up crying, she walked a little way across the floor, went limp, and fell hitting her head on the ground and then had a seizure, Brian's girlfriend, Melissa, called the ambulance. Angela thought that Codi was at Jefferson Memorial in Crystal City but she had been notified by her step-father that she had been transferred to Children's in St. Louis, she was also told that Codi was unresponsive. Angela arrived at the hospital before the ambulance carrying Codi arrived. 

When Codi arrived at the hospital, Angela was taken to a small waiting room and asked a lot of questions. The social worker and the nurse asked Angela when the last time she saw Codi was, and what kind of, if any, bruises she had when she left her home. Angela said she had never seen Brian or his girlfriend hit Codi. The social worker told Angela that it was obvious she was abused.

Angela was heart broken, she trusted Melissa but she abused Codi. She was also told that Codi was bruised from head to toe, she was unresponsive and not breathing by herself. Angela was asked how she disciplined Codi, she said she tapped her on the hands to get her attention but that was all. Angela wouldn't see Codi for 5 more days.

When Angela saw Melissa, she said she was the least of her concerns, but she looked guilty, not like the guilt that this happened in her care, but the guilt like, I did this.

When Angela did see Codi, she looked so small and helpless, tubes were going in and out of her body, her face, arms and legs were bruised. Angela said she wanted to take Codi's pain away and take her place, she would have gladly given her life for Codi. Angela soon discovered that Melissa did in fact abuse Codi. Codi's head injuries were consistent with shaken baby syndrome.

Angela decided to have Codi's organs donated if she didn't survive and she signed a document to make sure that non of Codi's organs were to be used for scientific studies, unless one of her organs were found to be unusable, everything would be donated except Codi's eyes, Angela said she couldn't handle walking down the street and seeing her eyes in someone else. Codi was then taken off life support after her condition deteriorated.

Melissa was sentenced to 10 years in prison for abusing Codi, Pamela, Melissa's mother, will not be sentenced for her involvement in the case, she was said to have known Codi was being abused but didn't stop it.

Jaydon Hoberg

Jaydan James Hoberg 

February 9 2005 - July 18 2006

Age: 17 months old 

While Jaydon's mother, Billie Hilleary, slept upstairs, Jaydon was suffering a terrible nightmare downstairs, at the hands of his mothers live in boyfriend of five months. Jaydon's face was smashed into a couch cushion while John White was raping him. Jaydon died of suffocation. Jaydon also suffered severe child abuse from him, he broke his leg two months before his death and was in John's care when it happened.

After Jaydon died, John White was arrested and charged with the rape of Jaydon. John told paramedics that he had been taking a nap on the couch, which Jaydon and when he woke up, he found Jaydon to be unconscious and that his head was stuck under a pillow. Part of that conversation was heard on an open 911 line"

When Billie called 911, she told them that her sons head face down in the cushion of the couch and that he was not breathing. She told them that she had been living with John White for about five months following the separation from Jaydon's father. John eventually confessed to raping Jaydon after blood and semen were found in his diaper. Jaydon's death was ruled a homicide by asphyxiation.

Emily Nestly

July 5 2008 - September 10 2010

Age: 2 years old 

On September 10, 2010, Emily went swimming with her preschool. When it was time to leave, Emily wondered off somewhere in the pool because she didn't want to go as usual. The teachers rushed the children off to the showers and changing rooms. Once the children were changed, they left the venue. When a teacher was counting the children of the school bus, she noticed Emily was missing. The other teachers went inside with the kids and that one teacher drove back to the venue. By the time she arrived, Emily had already passed away. Here body was found sank at the bottom of the pool. Lifeguards assumed Emily must have been playing around and then lost her balance and drowned. Lifeguards didn't see Emily until she had already died.

Daisy Torres

January 16 2015 - March 29 2016

Age: 14 months old 

On March 29 2016, Daisy went into surgery to fill in six cavities after her dentist, Michael Melason recommended she should have them done. During the procedure Daisy went into cardiac arrest,Michael preformed CPR on her and called 911. Once the ambulance arrived, Daisy was rushed to hospital but later died there.

An autopsy revealed that Daisy died due to complications with the anaesthesia. More shockingly, the pathologist revealed that Daisy actually had no cavities in the first place. Therefore the whole procedure was unnecessary. Daisy's heartbroken parents sued Michael Melason $1 million after finding out that Michael knew the procedure was unnecessary but did it for financial gain. Despite the trail, Michael was somehow found not guilty and never faced any sort of discipline.

Colton Turner

Age: 2 years old 

In July 2014, Colton Brandt Turner died while in the care of his mother, 20 year old Meagan Work and her boyfriend, 29 year old Michael Brandt Turner. A friend of Meagan's called Police on September 10th to let them know that she had seen pictures of Colton and he had many bruises on his body, the woman said that she feared Colton was being abused. Police contacted Meagan who told them that Colton was being taken care of by a friend in another town.

When Police contacted that friends, they learned that Meagan had told that friend that Colton was being taken care of by family members. When Police once again questioned Meagan about the obvious lies she had told, Meagan told them that Colton had been taken from her truck when she left him alone for a few minutes outside of a hotel room. Meagan said that Colton's purple blanket had also been taken.

That was not the last lie Meagan would tell, since she then changed her story again and said that she had given her son to a couple she didn't know, while they were at a fast food restaurant.

Michael Turner, who is not Colton's biological father, was in jail on unrelated charges, was questioned and he said that he treated Colton as though he were his own son. Michael first told Police that Meagan had given Colton to a couple at a fast food restaurant before he finally told the truth, Colton was dead.

At about 2:30 p.m. that day, Michael took Police to a shallow grave where Colton was buried, he was wrapped in his purple blanket and buried under a pile of wood covered with a piece of sheetrock. After a 12 hour excavation, the body of Colton was found.

After Colton was found, Meagan changed her story and said that Colton had hit his head an air conditioner at the motel and that he had fallen after being beaten or what she called assaulted, on July 6. Meagan said that Colton was having trouble walking after and that later in the afternoon he started having trouble breathing. Michael was sentenced  to life in prison.

Anna Brulotte

Age: 2 years old 

A 16 year old driver crashed into the back of the car,over the speed limit. She claims she lost focus for around 5 seconds and she said she didn't see the car stopped at the lights in front. The car then jolted forward and struck Anna and her mother who was crossing the street. Anna's mother survived. The driver was given only 30 days in a juvenile detention,one year probation and 150 days of community service.

Brittany Locklear

October 14 1992 - January 8 1998

Age: 5 years old 

On January 8 1998, Brittany was woken up by her mother, Connie, to go to school. Their morning routine was nothing unusual. Connie walked Brittany out the front door ready to wait for the school bus which picked her up right outside. The bus was late, Connie went back inside for a moment and when she came back Brittany was gone. Connie assumed that Brittany had got on the bus and went to school. She went back inside to get on with her day.

Connie later became worried when Brittany didn't get dropped off outside her home. She rung school and was told that Brittany had never been to school that day. On January 9 1998, Brittany's body was found. She had been sexually assaulted and drowned. Brittany's killer has never been found and the case remains unsolved.

Juliana LaMonica

July 1 2007 - July 5 2010

Age: 3 years old 

In November 2009, Juliana was taken to the doctor with a suspected ear infection. Blood tests were taken, they showed that Juliana had leukaemia and her parents were told that she had to be taken to hospital. The diagnosis was a rare form of acute myeloid leukaemia called monosomy seven, it was also very difficult to treat. Her only option was a bone marrow transplant, her brother was a perfect match. On May 10 2010, Juliana went into a surgery. Unfortunately, in June 2010, Juliana relapsed and doctors said that there was nothing more they could do. Three weeks later, just 4 days after her third birthday, Juliana passed away after battling for over 8 months.

Tylea Moore

Age: 18 months old 

Tylea was born to Chris Moore and Alexis Botello. Chris (father) is a marine. In February 2014, 17 year old Alexis starts a relationship with Joshua Beard. They start living together with Tylea one month after they met. Alexis drifts away from her friends and family and always focuses on Josh. On 5th July, Joshua is arrested. When Alexis's family tries to see her, she locks herself in her home.  Alexis is later seen crying hysterically in her car.

When her family finally got hold of her, she says she hasn't seen Tylea in two days. She says "He didn't mean to do it" 'He' is meaning Joshua. She says she can't tell them what he did because he made her promise him.

Eventually, she comes out with the truth. On July 4th, Joshua was pushing Tylea around and yelling at her. Alexis kept telling him to stop but he didn't listen. Joshua then started hitting Alexis. He kept pushing and shoving Tylea. Joshua went sleep on the sofa and Alexis put Tylea to bed. Alexis woke up to Tylea crying, Joshua was pushing Tylea's head onto the side of the crib. He picks Tylea up, runs into the bedroom and throws Tylea onto the bed, so hard that she bounced off onto the ground.

He began stomping on Tylea's stomach over and over again. He chokes Alexis when she tries to stop him. Tylea had died by the time he stopped. They put her in the boot and drove to Walmart where they bought gloves and a shovel. They drove to a bridge, dug a small hole and buried Tylea. Alexis showed police where Tylea was buried. Her body had bruises on her head, legs, back, arms and on her little feet. She had bite marks all over.

Joshua Beard was sentenced to life in prison. Alexis Botello was was found guilty of capital murder.

Sherry Charlie

January 17 2001 - September 4 2002

Age: 19 months old 

On September 4 2002, Sherry was crying, a high-pitched screaming. Her foster father, Ryan George, tried to calm her. He held Sherry but she didn't want to be held. And then he snapped.

In a fit of rage, he banged her head on the floor three times. He kicked her in the stomach with his bare foot, maybe twice. Her eyes rolled back in her head. She went quiet, just lying there. He tried CPR but it didn't work then he called 911.

He picked up her body and carried it to the bottom of the circular carpeted stairs, trying to make the death look like an accident.

When the ambulance arrived, he claimed that Sherry's 3 year old brother Jamie, who was also living with the family, had pushed her down the stairs. Sherry had 11 broken ribs, and severe bruises in various stages of healing and that she died from three blows to the head.

He was sentenced to just 10 years in prison.

Caylee Cepero

September 3 2000 - March 8 2005

Age: 4 years old 

Caylee had gotten over her cough and was on the seventh day of her treatment. On March 3rd, Her school sent her home, saying that she was not feeling well. Caylee was still acting very healthy, and just the same as any other child. Just the day before, Caylee had been on a field trip to the fire station. The day after Caylee was sent home from school, she began vomiting.

Caylee's mother assumed that Caylee was vomiting because she had a stomach virus. The day after, she stopped vomiting, but was now dry heaving. She couldn't keep anything down, so her mother took her to the doctor. The doctor diagnosed her with the stomach virus. The day after this, Caylee slept for most of the day, except when she wanted to get up and go to church.

The next morning, Caylee looked even more sick. She was taken to the doctor around 9:00 a.m. This doctor immediately diagnosed Caylee with leukemia. This was March 7. Her parents were devastated, but they were told, "This is not the death sentence like it used to be." Caylee went through all sorts of treatment and was given a 40% chance of survival. Caylee passed away the next day.

Kayla Weber

Age: 15 months old 

Kayla was born on normal, healthy and happy baby. In November 2006, Kayla began showing signs of some illness and quickly became very sick. On December 22 2006, she was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that forms in nerve tissue. Kayla suffered major complications and almost lost her life several times in the first days of diagnosis.

Kayla's poor condition gradually got better over the next few months. She was all the way better by February 2007, she was a happy and healthy baby for the remaining six months. In September 2007, her cancer came back. Kayla battled for her life again. She was no longer the bubbly and happy baby her parents knew. She slept most of the day, when she was awake she was either whining helplessly in pain or crying due the pain. Her family were heartbroken.

In November 2007, Kayla got extremely sick and became incredibly weak and vulnerable. Kayla was put on the ventilator once again after complications of a CT Scan. On December 2 2007, Kayla lost for life long battle with Neuroblastoma.

Rhianna Hardie

Age: 10 months old 

On November 19 2006, she suffered horrific injuries when showered with boiling water,she suffered 95% burns when boiling water poured into her cot when a tank in the attic exploded. Rhianna was scalded on only the second night the family had spent in their new house.Her parents heard a loud bang in her room,and found boiling water pouring from pipes on Rhianna's cot. Her father Mathew Hardie suffered burns to his hands and arms as he pulled Rhianna from the cot. Rhianna died in Bristol Children's Hospital 23 days after the accident.

James Krainich

Age: 21 months old 

James died after he accidentally fell out of a window. His mother said she looked over and just saw his heels flip over and out the gap, the gap was said to have been around fifty centimetre's wide. James fell twenty feet to the ground, though it doesn't seem such a big drop, it took James's life.

Skye Hall

Age: 5 years old 

Skye was born on November 5, 2008. The pregnancy and birth were normal, and during his formative years, Skye has been a healthy and happy young boy. Skye has a younger brother named Jesse, he was always by his side day and night and a new family member has joined Beau Hall, but Skye was not able to be here to meet his new baby brother.

On Friday July 26 2013, Skye felt a little nauseous when he woke up, but as the day progressed, the nausea disappeared and he was his usual bubbly self. The pattern repeated itself the next day, but this time, he vomited. They suspected that he had eaten something which had disagreed with him, but It became a daily pattern, and after a few days, they booked to see the GP.This was to be the beginning of a very difficult journey.

Skye was diagnosed with a brain tumour, the tumour was identified as a Grade IV metastatic medulloblastoma. Instead of getting stronger, it was apparent that Skye was getting weaker and an emergency MRI scan on the May 20, 2014 revealed that there were widespread White Matter Lesions within the brain and spinal cord. It was initially diagnosed as radio-necrosis, which had been brought on by the combination of therapies which he has endured. It was later confirmed as radio-chemo neurotoxicity.

He was in a state of paraplegia, with double incontinence, and very poor use of his upper limbs and hands. But he fought on. The treatment left him weak and vulnerable. Skye Benjamin Hall sadly died at home on August 29 2014.

Sarah Landron

Age: 3 years old 

When Sarah was 3 years old, she loved going to church. She loved seeing her friends and talking to people who complemented how beautiful she was. However, it was at her local church where she sadly lost her life.

On the morning of September 23 1996, Sarah and her family went to their local church as usual. After church ended, Sarah's mother was talking to some friends. She looked over and saw Sarah and her 6 year old brother, Ian,  playing happily on the church playground which was near the Church car park.

Ian then came over to where his mother was standing and told her that Sarah was hurt and that she isn't waking up. When her mother saw her, she knew that Sarah was gone. Sarah was bleeding alot and had clear, serious head injuries.

Sarah had been crushed to death by the playground structure after it fell. No body was ever charged with the tragic death of Sarah.
